The original multi-sensor didn't look quite right (which isn't surprising seeing how it was copied over/salvaged from a helicopter gun-ship. So I decided to rebuild one from scratch. The new sensor module now has some armoring, and 4 pairs of different cameras that gives the machine a spider-like appearance. I'm hoping the glow which resemble 8 red eyes will give off a more intimidating feel in the dark.
I also changed up the pose a bit, as the previous didn't really show of the agility of this machine. This time around, it's tilting the chassis forward, showing off its reactive armor over the leg joints, at the same time bracing the cannon for discharge.
Wanted to build a spider/walker tank, so I built one. The leg actuators were actually stupidly hard to build, mainly because they kept on intersecting into each other when the joints bent, and I couldn't find a way to design the armor so the joints were free to move and be well-protected at the same time.
Fluff, because everyone likes fluff:
The NE-10 Articulator Weapon Platform is NeoEarth battlefield proxy of the main tank. Instead of the conventional treaded chassis used by the UNAF, the NE-10 is operated by 4 individually articulating mechanized limbs. On relatively flat terrain, the wheels are able to provide a modest 60 mph cruising speed, with each leg acting as independent suspensions, stabilizing the upper-chassis during weapon discharge. On rugged ground, the walker mode is able to navigate most obstacles, providing stability and a clear line-of-sight for its weapons.
While the underside-mounted 50-mm rotary cannon is more than sufficient at taking out light-to-medium-armored enemies, the real threat carried by the presence of an NE-10 is the 120-mm current-capacitated mass-driver. Even though the main gun lacks the punch delivered by the UNAF static-capacitor counter-parts, its compact size allows it to be mounted on a relatively small and agile platform such as the NE-10. With that said, the NE-10's mass-driver can easily put a round through both sides of any UNAF Titan from as far as 250 meters away, giving it the fearsome reputation as the "Titan Hunter". Modified variants are also capable of carrying up to 12 infantry with gear in its rear troop compartment.
