The first UNAF unit rolls off the line, and suprise, it's not the Zeta series. Because the Zeta Airios and Terria designs have been giving me nothing but grief for the past month and I've no time to be sitting around art-blocked during exam time, I decided to take a 2-hour-long break yesterday and put the finishing touchs on one of UNAF's mass-production units.
Introducing the MA-01 "Challenger", the replacement for the [link]
. I named it the "Challenger" because in the draft sketch, the fog lamps kind of looked like the head-lights of the classic Dodge Challenger. The torso chassis is completely rebuilt so it would look different from the NeoEarth models (NE designs have their generators above the cockpit, UNAF generators are below). One thing right off the bat that (I hope) people will notice is that this new model is a lot less bulky. I trimmed the armor thickness by as much 80% in some places (namely the legs), to make it look more agile. This unit also has an insane amount of hard-points, rails, and replaceble components, which allow me to add variety to Mobile Armor squads without making whole ney models. On this model, it is equipped with an arm-mounted drum-fed auto-cannon, cages around the pectoral lights, an antennae extensioin and a triangulating range-finder on the head, a silicon-polymer "shrap catcher" ballistics shield, and the standard shoulder-mounted canister launchers. Other things I plan to add is some sort of melee weapon, arm-mounted grenade launcher, missile/rocket pods, and reinforced armor upgrade that would bulk it back up again.
